About Danicwin
We built a business, sold it, and now sit on your side of the table.
David and Nicola founded Danicwin after more than two decades building and scaling a successful UK technology services business — from a standing start, through sustained growth, to a successful sale.
Every founder we meet is halfway through a story only they know the shape of. We recognise it, because we've told our own version of it — the first hire, the first real customer, the first time the numbers went the wrong way, the first honest conversation about what the business would eventually have to become.
For more than twenty years we built and scaled a UK business from the ground up. We made almost every mistake worth making — and made a fair number of good decisions too. We ran operations, closed deals, hired brilliant people, fired well-meaning ones, sat through investor meetings, board fights and slow-burn crises. Eventually we sold it — cleanly, and on our own terms.
Danicwin exists because founders kept asking us the same question afterwards: would you sit with us while we do this? The advice most SME owners can access tends to arrive too late, framed too generically, and delivered by someone who has never actually owned the risk. We wanted to build the opposite of that.
We take on a handful of clients at any time. Engagements are hands-on and long enough to matter. We work in plain English, alongside your regulated accountants, lawyers and tax advisers — never around them. And we say no often, because most engagements only work when both sides genuinely want them.

What we believe
Six ideas that shape every engagement.
Founder-first, always.
Our loyalty is to the owner in the room, not to a process, a buyer or a fee event.
Plain English.
If a founder can't explain it back to their team by dinner, it's not the plan yet.
Deliberately selective.
A handful of clients at any time. Every engagement gets us, not a bench.
Alongside your advisers.
We work with your accountants, lawyers and tax counsel — never around them.
Long view.
Businesses are usually built over decades. Advice that respects that tends to age better.
Quiet by default.
Discretion isn't marketing for us — it's how good exit work actually gets done.
Why it matters
Why founder-led advice is different.
Most consultants have never carried personal guarantees, never made a payroll they weren't sure would clear, never sat through the specific silence that follows a buyer's second-day-of-DD phone call.
The advice sounds different when it comes from someone who has. It's more direct. It's better sequenced. It weighs the founder's life alongside the business's numbers — because in an SME they are, in practice, the same thing.
That doesn't make us right about everything. It does mean we're rarely surprised by what actually happens in the room.
